CELEBRATING THE
IOWA SUMMER WRITING FESTIVAL

WITH THE IOWA WRITERS' HOUSE

Dear writers and new friends,

Welcome to Iowa City...we're glad you're here! Whether you are back for your fourteenth festival or here for the very first time, welcome to Iowa City, a UNESCO City of Literature.

A little over two years ago, I moved back to Iowa City, where I was born, to focus on my writing in city known for producing great writers. However with the frost of winter still on the ground, and the Iowa Summer Writing Festival still months away, I found myself without a writing community and unsure how to plug in. With the idea that a City of Literature should seemingly have a year-round literary center, I founded the Iowa Writers' House. My first and greatest advocate was a wonderful woman and writer, Amy Margolis, Director of the ISWF!

With Amy's support, IWH has grown into a community that welcomes writers to Iowa City from around the country and serves as a permanent point of access into our legendary literary community. We offer workshops August through May, when ISWF isn't in session, and during those summer months, we offer historic literary tours a way to support the festival and so we can have a chance to meet all of you and welcome you into the IWH family.

Sign up below to be part of our community and receive info on all of our workshops throughout the year, along with our resources for writers. While you're in town, come take a tour with us, visit the Writers' House, and know that you have a community here for you between festival summers.

Sincerely,
Andrea J. Wilson
Founder & Director, Iowa Writers' House
